Looking for a loved one's final resting place?
Enter Surname followed by Comma then Christian name with " " at either end for a more comprehensive search.
eg. "SMITH, John"
Remember that initials may only be present for Christian name so just enter surname if you have no success.
If their name does not appear try the following
1. Search the State Wide Council facility - they may not have a headstone or their name is not inscribed.

2. If there was a second marriage are they buried with their first partner under that surname?
3. Are they buried with their parents?
4. Have you searched the papers of the day for their funeral and death notices? South Australian papers are kept at the State Library of South Australia on Microfilm available for access any time the library is open.
5. If they died in Adelaide they may be buried at West Terrace Cemetery administered by Adelaide Cemeteries Authority.
A fee of $14.00 applies per enquiry however a touchscreen is available at the Cemetery near the front gates in the office.
6. Contact the local district Council for more information - they may hold burial registers.
7. Death Certificates after about 1945 show location of burial or disposal of body.
These are available to view at the District of the event up until 1967 - usually free of charge.
